Roger Weiss and Suzanne Domin presented with prestigious SFA Silver Snoopy Awards for outstanding performance
Congratulations to Roger Weiss and Suzanne Domin who have been awarded NASA’s prestigious Space Flight Awareness (SFA) Silver Snoopy Award for outstanding performance contributing to flight safety and mission success. Fewer than 1% of NASA’s aerospace program workforce receives this coveted award, which is awarded to NASA employees and contractors for outstanding achievements.
Roger Weiss, Technical Integration Lead on HSFTIC, has been recognized for spearheading the Client Service+Satisfaction (CSS) awareness initiative, which has enriched the ISS Payload Developers and Principal Investigators experiences when integrating their hardware and/or science into the mission and purpose of the ISS.
Roger says, “Being awarded the Silver Snoopy is a sheer source of gratitude, pride, humbleness, and honor, and one that came completely unexpected, but no less a personal high point in a long, vital, and fulfilling career as a NASA contractor.
“We often hear award recipients say “…it was all about the teamwork” and at risk of sounding cliché, that declaration couldn’t be more apropos when it comes to the ISS Research Client Service+Satisfaction (CSS) team, which has been fortunate enough to have many talented people over the years.
“Each and everyone’s contributions have collectively played a very real part in seeing NASA culture and process improvements culminating in the ultimate assurance of ISS research clientele’s being served well, and experiencing maximum satisfaction in their journey to, during, and from the space station.”
Suzanne Domin, CoFR SME on HSFTIC, has been recognized for her leadership to the ISS Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) team, process and review execution. Suzanne explains, “Over the past several years, it has been my responsibility to assess the CoFR process and identify efficiencies, improvements, and consistency. My work has covered multiple Human Space Flight (HSF) programs and a benchmark has been established”.
She says, “It was very special that it was presented to me by our own Mark Polansky. He has experienced firsthand with me many of the CoFR growing pains over the years. I was also honored to have Aki Hoshide, former JAXA astronaut, assist Mark in the presentation at the SORR.
“This award left me speechless – a rare occurrence – as it stunned me to realize the progress that has been made and the respect for the process that is exhibited every day by each of the HSF programs across the agency.
I love my work and am truly humbled by this recognition as it represents the respect and understanding of the importance of the CoFR process to keep our crew and vehicles safe.”
