Barrios Launch Wraps up another Successful Summer Program

The Barrios Launch Internship Program wrapped up another successful summer program a few weeks ago with eight amazing students who represented the values of Barrios.

Our hybrid intern program enabled candidates who may not otherwise have been able to participate to gain valuable experience and knowledge about the aerospace industry. The program included a full schedule of workshops, lectures, tours, meetings with the executive team, and mentorship and coaching opportunities. In addition, the students gained work experience on the Human Space Flight Technical and Integration Contract (HSFTIC), with the Commercial Space team and in Corporate.

“During the program, our group of diverse interns really came together to build and create great relationships with each other and our Barrios teams. In addition to all the learning, they also took part in a public event for Moon Day to help with outreach communications and watched the launch of Boeing’s Orbital Flight Test-2 Starliner spacecraft from Mission Control’s viewing room,” says Maria Baugh-Horstman, Barrios Launch Internship Program Director at Barrios Technology.

Victor Williams, Computer Science student at Texas Southern University, shared his thoughts on his Barrios Intern experience. “I had the opportunity to work with the iCORE Data Analytics team where I built Flight Freeze data models for the ISS. From day one, I felt confident to share my opinions and branch out to learn things in data modelling I hadn’t even thought of before. Even more, as an HBCU student, getting the opportunity to see the initiative Barrios has to push for diversity was inspirational. Overall, Barrios felt more like an internship – it felt like a family. And it’s that same family atmosphere that motivated me to continue my career with Barrios.”
