Celebrating Excellence: Our 2024 3rd Quarter Silver BEAR Awardees Go Above and Beyond

At Barrios, excellence is defined by individuals who go above and beyond, demonstrating unwavering dedication, strategic problem-solving, and a commitment to enhancing team success. For the 2024 3rd Quarter, the contributions of Gabriel Harris, Michelle Martin, Heather Moffatt, and Gerard Szymczak have exemplified these qualities in unique and impactful ways.

Gabriel Harris, Project Coordinator – Directive Management Support Assistant on our Consolidated Program Support Services (CPSS) Project Coordination (PC) contract, is recognized for her outstanding support in completing a critical project ahead of schedule. She successfully facilitated the transfer of over 1,400 permanent directive-related records to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and coordination.

As Export Control Analyst on our Human Space Flight Technical Integration Contract (HSFTIC), Michelle Martin has been recognized for her efforts in establishing a program-wide standard for Export Control (EC) products and processes.

With her strong work ethic and organizational skills, Heather Moffatt, Meeting Services Specialist on HSFTIC, is acknowledged for her exceptional contributions to the Gateway Program Critical Design Review (CDR) Sync Review. Her contributions have not only been vital to this specific review, but she consistently demonstrates teamwork, commitment, and professionalism, setting a high standard of excellence that reflects Barrios’ values.

Gerard Szymczak, Systems Engineer – ARED on the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Engineering Technology and Sciences (JETS II) contract, has supported the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (ARED) from the beginning and has legacy knowledge and expertise with this hardware. He has supported innumerable on-orbit failures, giving him the ability to anticipate customer needs and received the award for his essential work in completing evaluations and analysis to extend ARED’s life to 2030.

The BEAR Awards Program recognizes superior performance and outstanding support of customer and company goals. Each quarter, outstanding employees are selected to receive the Silver Award. Silver award winners automatically qualify for the annual Gold BEAR award.
