Barrios awarded Space Center Rotary LEAP for Mankind Business Award for its Commitment to Community Service
Barrios Technology has received the LEAP for Mankind Business Award from Space Center Rotary at their annual LEAP for Mankind Awards Gala on Saturday, February 24. The awards gala honors exceptional individuals and businesses in the Bay Area Houston community.
The annual LEAP for Mankind Awards Gala highlights extraordinary Leadership, Excellence, Achievement, and Philanthropy in individuals and businesses, with this year’s honorees demonstrating a profound impact on the lives of Bay Area families, showcasing a commitment to shaping a brighter future.
According to Space Center Rotary, “Barrios’ dedication to philanthropy and leadership, as demonstrated by their employees’ involvement in various non-profit boards, underscores their commitment to community service”.
Kelly Page, President at Barrios Technology, says, “Since Barrios was founded in 1980, we have been committed to advancing humanity, on and off the planet. This commitment includes making a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where we do business.
“One of our key focus areas is education, and specifically, equal access to quality education for all students. Through the years, we’ve supported several key beneficiary organizations, such as United Way, Communities in Schools, Clear Creek Independent Schools District, and University of Houston – Clear Lake.”
The company also encourages and supports employees to be active in their local communities. Each year, a nominated employee receives the Barrios EMY Award, named after their founder Emyré Barrios Robinson, for their commitment to making a long-lasting impact and doing good for society.
Another company community initiative is the Barrios Community Impact Committee (BCIC) that identifies focus areas for company-sponsored and employee support of charitable organizations and provides Community Impact Grants for organizations that employees already support. “The BCIC actively coordinates drives and volunteer opportunities for hands-on support to organizations in need throughout the year,” adds Kelly.
Space Center Rotary awarded its LEAP for Mankind Individual Award to Jill Reason, Executive Director of Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theater – an esteemed educator, community leader and arts advocate. Dr. Glenn Freedman was honored with the prestigious LEAP Legacy Award in recognition for his service to the non-profit, aerospace, education, and for-profit communities in countless ways.
